summerville / bulb and breakfast competition 2004, finalist |

To respect the structural method of the bulb sheds, most of the shelves are used as shelves for display. In the case of books and breakfast they are used for books. By being surrounded by books people can find their own space for retreat. The platform that levels 30cm higher than the floor is a sleeping space with a foldable mattress that can be turned into a couch.
The contrast between darkness inside the bulb shed and lightness and color outside in the bulb fields is a quality. The horizontal lines created by the bulb shelves are in correspondence with the geometrical landscape outside. By replacing the dark shelves with light colored wood shelves, the horizontal lines are emphasized in the dark existing structure. |
