	‘My home is my castle’ The urban plan, which this house is part of, is based on 19th century garden cities with green wide lanes. Our idea for the house is also based on typical 19th century Dutch mansions., so called ‘herenhuizen’ Solemn massive spacious houses in a green environment. Mass and light Within the urban restrictions we explored the boundaries of the row house. A screen is positioned next to the building mass to allow a maximum experience of the massiveness. The zone in between the screen and the mass is used as a stair case. This buffer zone offers the necessary space to experience the play of light on the architectural volume.
