Tool-Blox’ is a housing system that combines the economic standardization, optimized orientation and functionality of modernism with the clear urban structure and division between public and private space of traditional urbanism.

URBAN CUSTOMIZATION
The ‘Blox’ can be adapted to other sizes, different orientations and locations. It can be assembled into towers and blocks with large openings.

FLEXIBILITY
‘Tool-Blox’ is based on a 5x5 meter grid. By using columns within this grid program and location generated exceptions can be easily absorbed.

COLLECTIVE SPACE
Collective spaces of sport, relaxation and recreation are shared among the residents in the visually quiet ‘Zen deck’. Collective ‘pockets’ are more intimate shared spaces offering views in the courtyard and the surrounding public space.

URBAN DACHA
Each housing unit has at least one ‘Urban Dacha’, a private outdoor space that can be opened or closed by glass sliding doors, thus functioning as a climate buffer.
